Phi Theta Kappa is an international honors society of two year colleges that focuses on implementing four hallmarks: leadership, scholarship, service and fellowship. We are the Alpha Theta Delta chapter representing Central Arizona College in the great state of Arizona. The intention of creating this blog is to improve communication between our three campuses and to create a time line of the events that occur each year to pass down our experiences to our future members

First, congratulations to SMC's officers for Fall 2010:
President: Kelli Scofield
VP of Scholarship: Nicole Smith
VP of Service: Alisha DeCou
VP of Fellowship: Sharon Maupin
VP of Leadership: STILL AVAILABLE
VP of Fund-raising: Laurie DeBusk
Special Events Coordinator: Ian Cockrill
Treasurer: Casey Brunson
Secretary: STILL AVAILABLE
Public Relations: STILL AVAILABLE

Old business:
Sharon found out through the Phi Theta Kappa website that fund-raising can be done directly through Phi Theta Kappa via Alpha Theta Delta's unique tax ID number, which will make fund-raising must easier in the future.

Kelli discussed the campus wide meeting to be held Saturday, May 1 in Florence.  This meeting is to gather information and begin discussing the campus wide Service and College projects.  (The meeting was postponed and the re-scheduled date is unknown)

New Business:
Nicole gave a quick recap of the regional meeting.  There will be a Leadership training at ASU on June 4 or 5.  There is a possibility of CAC doing a workshop at the training.  Pima would like to do a Chapter Officer training on either May 22 or May 29 and would like CAC to attend.

Kelli discussed the Literacy program that Sue Warner has put together.  The program is geared toward Adult learners with aim at helping them pass their G.E.D.  Sue would like to have training the first week of August.  The training would be for 8 hours and she recommends doing it in 2 days.  If you are interested, please email Kelli (kelli_scolfield@stu.centralaz.edu)

Kelli passed officer responsibilities and bylaws.  Changes will be made before Fall 2010 to better accommodate the new officers.

Summer and Fall meeting schedules. Please email Kelli with your summer availability if you would like to meet over the summer.

Laurie discussed her Non-profit, "Mail for Marlas".  It is also her honor project.  The goal is to honor her friend, who passed away from Cancer and encourage Cancer patients and their families during the rough process of chemo therapy.  Care packages for patients and family members will be put together and sent to the Cancer treatment Centers.  She is also working on scholarships and has the current Miss Arizona getting involved.

Devin gave an overview of the Vice President position for the new VP's.

Ian discussed the upcoming Ice Cram Bowl and Earth Day Land Cleanup events sponsored by Student Leadership (more information can be obtained via the Central Az website).
